സ്വിറ്റസർലണ്ടിലും ,ജർമനിയിലും ,യു എസിലും ഏറെക്കാലം സേവനം ചെയ്ത സിസ്റ്റർ ലോറൻസ് ഇരുപതിൽ നാട്ടിൽ വെച്ച് ആകസ്മികമായി നിര്യാതയായി . ബാസൽ നിവാസി ശ്രീ ലൂയിസ് ഇരുപതിലിന്റെ സഹോദരിയാണ് പരേത .
കാവാലം ഇരുപതിൽ ശ്രീ ഫിലിപ്പ് പോത്തന്റെയും ,അന്നമ്മ ഫിലിപ്പിന്റെയും രണ്ടാമത്തെ കുട്ടിയായി 1950 ൽ ജനിച്ച സിസ്റ്റർ ലോറൻസ് തന്റെ ചെറുപ്പകാലം ആലപ്പുഴയിലെ ലിസിയക്സ് പള്ളിയിലെ കാവാലത്ത് ചെലവഴിച്ചു.
നോവിഷ്യേറ്റിനും സഭയിൽ പ്രവേശിച്ചതിനും ശേഷം, വിദേശത്ത് നഴ്സിംഗ് വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം നേടി. 1969-ൽ യൂറോപ്പിലേക്ക് യാത്ര ചെയ്ത അവർ ജർമ്മനിയിലെ മെച്ചെർണിച്ചിലും മ്യൂണിക്കിലും നഴ്സായി ജോലി ചെയ്തു.
1980-കളുടെ മധ്യത്തിൽ അവർ കേരളത്തിലേക്ക് തിരിച്ചു . 1989-ൽ, അവർ വീണ്ടും യൂറോപ്പിലേക്ക് മടങ്ങി.സ്വിറ്റസർലണ്ടിൽ സഹോദരൻ ലൂയിസിന്റെ കുടുംബത്തോട് അടുത്ത് വിസ്പ്, വാലിസ്, പിന്നീട് മെറ്റ്സിംഗെൻ, സുഗ് എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിൽ സേവനത്തിനായി എത്തി . അവിടെ വർഷങ്ങളോളം അവർ താമസിക്കുകയും വിശ്വസ്തതയോടെ സേവനത്തിൽ ഏർപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്തു,
പിന്നീട് കൻസസിലെ (യുഎസ്എ) വിചിതയിൽ വർഷങ്ങളോളം ചെലവഴിച്ചപ്പോൾ, കുട്ടിക്കാലത്ത് മനസ്സിൽ കരുതിയിരുന്ന ഒരു ആഗ്രഹം സഫലമായി. പുതിയ അനുഭവങ്ങൾ സ്വീകരിച്ച അവർ ജീവിതത്തിലെ പുതിയ വെല്ലുവിളികൾക്കായി തുറന്നിട്ടു.സിസ്റ്റർ ബന്ധുക്കൾക്കും ,പ്രിയപ്പെട്ടവർക്കും എലാമ ചേച്ചി എന്ന വിളിപ്പേരിൽ അറിയപ്പെട്ടു.

Sister Lawrence, who had served in Switzerland, Germany, and the US for a long time, passed away unexpectedly at kerala. She was the sister of Mr. Louis, Irupathil, a resident of Basel.
With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Sr. Lawrence (Elama chechy), elder sister of Louis Erupathil (Basel).
Born in 1950, as second child and daughter of Philip Pothen and Annamma Philip, she spent her formative years in Kavalam, Lisieux Church, Aleppey.
After her novitiate and her entry into the congregation, she pursued nursing education abroad. She travelled to Europe in 1969 and worked there as nurse in Mechernich and Munich, Germany.
Following this time in mid 1980’s, she undertook a short stay in Kerala. In 1989, she returned to Europe (closer to her brother Louis family) and made her home in the mountainous swiss region of Visp, Wallis and later in Metzingen, Zug. There she lived and served faithfully for many years, embracing the alpine landscape and the community that became central to her life until her retirement.
A long‑held childhood wish was fulfilled when she later spent several years in Wichita, Kansas (USA). She embraced new experiences and open to new challenges in life.We will miss you deeply and love you forever, our dear Elama chechi and aunty.

Her funeral services takes place in Kurichy, Little Flower Convent Cemetary, Changanacherry
